ANA tax for Car-hire companies at Faro Airport

    I've just checked with one of the car hire companies - nothing fixed yet, apparently there are still cases going through the courts. They aren't including it in quotes (since their competitiors aren't) but reserve to right to apply a surcharge, which seems fair enough.

    The tax comes in from 1st March. Some hire companies (AirAuto, AutoRent, Best Deal) will be operating off airport in future to avoid this surcharge, and providing a shuttle.

    The following companies will continue operating from Car Park 4 and will add €15, even to existing bookings:

    LagoRent
    MasterKings
    YOR car hire
    Auto Algarve
    PAA
    Local Cars
    Drive4Fun
    EPI Rent

    Something else to be aware of according to this BBC news article:

    "Motorists going abroad after 8 June are being warned they will need to take a special code with them if they want to hire a car."

    Zitautos are still operating out of P4 and only add €10 to cover the new tax. They have never asked to see the paper counterpart to my licence.
