    Thank you everyone for this very interesting information. I have been using Luzcar for many years and have generally found them to be fairly competitive, however your comments suggest otherwise. I shall certainly do a lot more research next time which will probably be in February.

    He owns Auto Seasons based near Tavira. He will give you free access for Spain, additional drivers and childrens seats.
    My assistant at work recommended him (she has an apartment in Tavira) and has been using him for many years. Very trustworthy and reliable. Cars are to/from Faro airport

    I use Airauto, pick up and leave in car park 4. Leave same amount of petrol as when car is picked up. I also have an annual policy with Insurance4carhire which covers any excess, so I don't accept any payment for CDW with the hire company. Luckily, I haven't had to make a claim on the insurance company so far.

    Can anyone give recommendations for car hire from Faro airport. I've been using Travelrent for some time now but want to look around for good alternatives. I need something like a Renault Clio.

    We've used Luz Car http://www.luzcar.com/ for many years and always been happy. They are very informal and I think competitive.

    I've been booking through Enjoy ever since they were recommended on this forum a few years ago -it generally works out at between 5 and 10 Euros a day. Out of season you can get the best deals by delaying your booking because some of the bigger companies make their surplus stock available at silly prices. Interrent (via Enjoy) is a good choice for anyone arriving after 8pm as they're open until midnight, so you can avoid the 20 to 30 Euros that most of the others charge for out-of-hours pickups.

    For anyone who is already familiar with Enjoy note that they now include the 15 Euro Airport charge in the quoted prices, which makes comparison easier.
