Where's the best place for restaurant reviews?

Until this year, we generally looked at the Carvoiero Forum but the number of postings seemed to diminish and I think perhaps Trip Advisor has really taken over in popularity. I now put comments about all the restaurants we visited on TA, but perhaps will also mention our top favourites from each trip on here too....

 

A little way out of Carvoeiro, but today we had a very enjoyable lunch at A Tasquinha, a tapas / wine bar in Lagoa. It is located in the pedestrianised walk way behind the market (Travessa de praca). Three courses plus wine, water and coffee for 16 euros for two. Good service, friendly and helpful staff.

 

Today we visited the new A Tascquinha in Monte Carvoeiro. The lunchtime menu was €9.50 for cover, salad or soup starter, main, dessert, wine, water and coffee.

Nice restaurant with pleasant staff. Food was very good too.

It has the same owners as the one in Lagoa which, at present, is closed for refurbishment.

Good value for money at least at lunchtime.

 

We and our family can wholeheartedly recommend 'O Farol' in Benagil. It's a family run restaurant/Grill. Fresh fish to choose from each day in addition to the main menu. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful sea view from the terrace. We've been going there several times per holiday for over 20 years.

 

Seeing the item just now reminds me I was going to mention the favourite from each trip. This year, our prize would go to Hexagone in Sesmarias - absolutely superb and highly recommended.

 

We have been trying out many local places. Here are our reviews.
CARVOEIRO
Terroir: been many times since opening just this year. Great concept with big range of Portuguese wines you can taste, have with tasty tapas or take away. Great staff. Recommended!
Villa Medici: great garden area to eat in and has always delivered good Italian fare.
Primavera: more standard and cheaper Italian fare than above but tasty. Good outside area.
Onze: great position over beach and modern fun feel. Food variable as staff struggle sometimes. Stick to risotto and pasta.
Tia Ilda: best view of beach but expensive because of it for standard fare. Smartened up this year so may try again.
Happys: great value standard fare with good plonk and lively.
BENAGIL
Pescador: trendy small relaunched place with small lovely terrace. One good and one average meal.
O Algor: very friendly simple family place just above Pescador. Much better value and staff so friendly.
FERRAGUDO
Casa Grande: a real find. Old captains house where you can try lots of wines (will arrange tastings for a group). Really tasty tapas. Big courtyard. Regular live music.
Reis de Prais: smart place right on beach between Ferragudo and Carvoeiro. Great for sunset dining and view worth the prices.
