O Farol

Ate in O Farol 4 times on our recent visit. The quality of the food never ceases to impress - I am yet to find a chicken piri piri that comes close to theirs!! the lovely couvert is also one of the best around and if my waistline permitted the almond cake for putting with tangerine ice cream was a must.

 

Interesting to hear that report, because we haven't eaten there for a long time, despite visiting RB for over 20 years now. I notice that there is no listing for O Farol on Trip Advisor - perhaps James could write one....

 

Well it's very easy to give a first review. I did exactly that for Helders a few weeks ago and now several others have piled in......

 

I don't think you need all the details. Certainly not all restaurants have a web address.

 

Hi GrahamF I too enjoy Helders unique banter and he is always worth a few visits when we are out. Another character you may enjoy is Manuel at Sulmar restaurant on the way to Benagil. He is a real character, little English spoken but you have a great conversation with him. The fish is gorgeous, generous and very reasonably priced - his tomato salad to die for - he grows tomatoes himself.
We will certainly be visiting both these characters when we are out later this month

 

That's really odd. The only problem for me is that I haven't eaten at O Farol for about 3 years or more and I don't want to invent a review! I know the adding process works because I successfully added Helders after our May visit to RB. I notice on T/A that there is a hotel listed called O Farol - you didn't put it in the wrong section did you?!

 

Thanks for that Bruce. Re Helders I am slightly amused to see that Helders has now made it to #7 in the list of restaurants. I feel that is a little generous considering the type of place it is but then again I think anyone who reads the reviews carefully will get a true picture. I wasn't aware of that other place Sulmar which is odd because I'm sure we have travelled the Benagil road many times. Can't see this on Trip Advisor but anyway we shall have to look out for it. Perhaps I can use it as an excuse to get out to RB again soon........

 

I just want to add my opinion that the O Farol is a wonderful place to eat. The food is consistemtly excellent and well presented. The O Farol Team led by Prata, Jesus and John (sorry never could pronounce the Portuguese version!) are to be complimented on a great restaurant

 

In reply to the Sul Mar comment that is on the left as you drive out isnt it - just past the old school house. Never eaten then, often seen it and wondered about it! Back on message - I also tried to add O Farol to T/A and never heard back from them to say it had been accepted.

 

I'm certain I added Helders without any help from Helder. Last time I looked Helders had risen to an amazingly high level in the CVO restaurant list!

 

Possibly Peter. But I think it's a good idea to ask O Farol as you suggested. I wish I was there to do it. Boo.

 

O Farol offer good food and service. Is everyone aware that they also offer 10% discount, if paying cash, for residents of Rocha Brava?

 

In our view one of the best restaurants in the area.

 

Can anyone help me to contact O Farol please ? I'm trying to find out about their Christmas menus. When I was last there in Sept they gave me a business card but neither the web address nor the email address work !!
Business card has www.ofarol-rochabrava.com and geral@ofarol-rochabrava.com, neither work.
I've emailed RB and they gave me yet another web and email address but they did not work either !!
If anyone can offer web and email addresses for O Farol I'd be very grateful, Thanks, Lesley
